Meet Chef Tara

Chef Tara's love for cooking began at an early age, learning the recipes and traditions of her family's northern Italian culture. Her passion led her to Prince Edward Island to earn her diploma in Culinary Arts at the Culinary Institute of Canada. From there she had the opportunity to work abroad in Tuscany, Italy where her love for all things Italian grew stronger. She then relocated to Calgary, where she became a Red Seal Chef and further expanded her knowledge working at a variety of the city's top restaurants. Now that she is back in her hometown of Waterloo, she enjoys sharing her knowledge of Italian flavours, ingredients, and love of food with all of you.

Benvenuti a la tavola! Welcome! We’re so happy to have you here. Tavola di Terra’s goal is to spread joy through fresh, simple, and seasonal food.

Nothing makes Chef Tara more excited than to provide you with the boldest of Italian flavours in your own home. Each meal Chef prepares is handmade, with the utmost attention and care to detail so that you can experience the delight of local ingredients through traditional Italian dishes. Some would even say, “that’s amore” on a plate.

With this commitment to you, we repeat the words shared around many an Italian dining table: “tutti a tavola”, “bon appetito”, and Chef’s favourite, “mangiamo”!


 

The Inspiration

 

Strong Italian family traditions are at the core of Chef Tara’s inspiration for Tavola di Terra. Growing up, the dinner table at home or her Nonna Maria’s was the focal point for all things delicious, inviting, and loving. It is still where the family gathers to share life’s ups and downs, and where memories continue to be created.

Chef Tara is excited to extend the tradition to your home’s table with flavourful, convenient, and customized dishes from the heart. She can’t wait for you to experience delicious Italian cibo at home, just like at her Nonna’s.
